About Sinawava

SINAWAVA is basically a landscape based upon the Temple of Sinawava in Zion Canyon, Utah.

The Temple of Sinawava is a vertical-walled natural amphitheater nearly 3,000 feet deep, located at the mouth of the Virgin River as is opens into the main valley of Zion National Park. The Temple can be thought of as the terminus of the canyon which begins about 16 miles upstream at 'The Narrows' of the Virgin River.

I have spent a good amount of time in Zion National Park and find no end of inspiration there. The beauty of that place has crept its way into several of my sculptures, but this is perhaps the most overt example of that inspiration.
