About Forest Bed

This is quite simply my bed. I made it several years ago out of a desire to spend every night sleeping beneath the trees. I spent many hours walking through forests looking for fallen cedar and juniper trees for its construction. I did not want to kill any living trees for my bed. Once I had the trees I stripped and sanded them. They have been treated in no way.

It is a queen-size bed. When I made it I decided to be funny and design it using structural finite-element analysis software. The bed frame is made of 2x12 lumber with 2x8 and 2x6 bracing. Its construction is basically a cross within a diamond within a rectangle. In other words it is strong as hell and by analysis it can take well over 1-ton of lateral load. If I ever have a pet Rhino I can cuddle with it.
