About Many Winds

The sculpture was created immediately upon my return from a six night back-country trip to the Wild River Basin area of Rocky Mountain National Park. There I spent time at the Lake of the Many Wind, and alpine lake nestled between three mountains. This sculpture was conjured by creating four flat interpretations of the landscape in punctured aluminum, and then turning those flat elements into dimensional columns in the spirit of mountains. Those columns were then nested and welded.

Land forms seem to form the bulk of my base inspiration as I write this - in the autumn on 2015. The technology and precision I use to interpret the inspiration carries the pieces into existence.
