This is the first of two blue Pororoca-series sculptures created with blue tinted acrylic. Before creating this sculpture, the Pororoca sculptures were made of clear acrylic to mimic water. The Pororoca is a tidal bore, with waves up to 4 m (13 ft.) high that travel as much as 800 km (500 mi) inland upstream on the Amazon River and adjacent rivers.
I chose to make these new pieces in blue because not only is it a beautiful color, but when I think of waves, I cant help but think of the sky above them.
