About Ming's Flame

MING'S FLAME is in part inspired by underwater plants, in part by fire, and in part the 1936 Flash Gordon science fiction serial film. I think all of those influences are obvious.

It is made of hand-cut, curved, cold forged brass and aluminum pieces that are bolted together. I feel that this piece has equal allure displayed in any orientation. This is a companion piece to the sculpture 'Crystalline Pod', as they were both made at the same time, alongside of each other. Both pieces have inspired me to explore the realm of lighting more deeply within my work - stay tuned.
